“No, I am fine let’s go out and eat and look at the fall colors in your yard. You know we are probably going to have to wear our winter coats to sit out here soon. I am not willing to not sit here and see the lovely yard. I see you have your bird feeders all ready for the winter, it will be nice to see all of the birds. I never get tired of this view.” Marie said between bites.

“Do you remember meeting Kimberly at church? I told you I sold the flower shop to her." Grace asked Marie. Marie nodded her head. “I was visiting with her the other day. She mentioned she is looking for someone to help her at the shop. I told her I would talk to you about the job. I also told her you have helped me arrange the flowers for the church services. She seemed very excited to talk to you about the job. She has a lot of weddings scheduled to make the flower arrangements for, also the holidays are always busy for flower shops. She said if you are interested, just go by the shop and she will talk to you. Since it is just around the corner from the safe house you will be able to walk to work, if the two of you decide it will work.” Grace said.

“I will plan on going to see her tomorrow. I would love the work. If it pays enough maybe I could get a small apartment and move out of the safe house. I appreciate everything they have done for me, but I really would like to be on my own.” Marie told Grace as she picked up the dishes to take them inside.

“It would be great to have your own place. Since you are getting your GED, Kimberly may be able to pay you enough. I am excited to see where you and the Lord go with your future.” Grace said as she gave Marie a hug.

The next morning while Marie was drinking her coffee in her room waiting for the flower shop to open she was thinking about how everything had changed since the day of the accident. Physically she was not the same at all. She knew the brace would be a hassle for the rest of her life, but if that was all that was left of all of the problems she had she would consider herself very fortunate.

Leroy and she had come to town a little over six months ago. What a change in her life! To get up out of a bed every day and have regular meal time and have people to talk to was so different then traveling in the car with Leroy. He did not like to talk very much and there really was not much to talk about. Every day was the same. She would wake up and Leroy would be driving or if he had slept when they woke up, in the car he would start driving.
